The role
As a Live-in Care Assistant, you move into your client's home for a placement — usually two weeks at a time — and provide continuous, consistent support throughout the day. You're not visiting and leaving. You're there, present, and part of their daily life.
That's what makes this role different. You get to know one person deeply. You understand their routine, their preferences, what makes them laugh, what worries them. You become a trusted part of their world — and they become a meaningful part of yours.
Your client stays in the home they love, with dignity and independence intact. And at the end of each placement, you head home for a proper break — with your next placement ready and waiting.
"I thought I'd miss the variety of visiting care. But the depth of relationship you build with one person — knowing you're genuinely making their life better every single day — that's something else entirely."
[Testimonial – Name, Age] · Live-in Care AssistantHow it works
Live-in care isn't like a standard job — and that's the point. The schedule works in blocks, which means real focus when you're working, and a genuine break when you're not.
You live in your client's home and provide support throughout each day. You have your own private room. Evenings are usually quieter, and your client's overnight needs are minimal — you are not expected to be awake through the night.
At the end of your placement, another carer takes over. You brief them fully on your client's routine and wellbeing. Continuity of care is important to us — and to your client.
You go home. Properly. No visits, no rotas, no obligations. A real rest between placements — so you come back refreshed and ready to give your best.
You are not on call through the night. Clients are matched to carers based on their needs. Where overnight support is required, that is agreed and compensated separately — it is never assumed.
Why this role
This isn't a role for everyone — and that's what makes it special. If you want to go deep rather than wide, live-in care gives you something most jobs never can.
You're not rushing between seven visits before lunch. You focus entirely on one person — understanding how they like their morning, what matters to them, how to make their day genuinely better. That depth of care is rare.
Most jobs take from you daily. Live-in care works in blocks — focused time on, proper time off. Many of our live-in carers say it suits their life far better than a standard rota ever did.
Accommodation and a £45/week meal allowance are provided throughout your placement. Your living costs while working are taken care of — which means your weekly earnings go further.
You'll have a named care manager you can call any time. The office team is always reachable. And before your first placement, you'll be paired with an experienced live-in carer who knows exactly what the role feels like from the inside.
At £854.70 per week, plus holiday pay and pension contribution, this is one of the strongest pay packages available for this kind of work in the local area. Paid training from day one. No hidden catch.
Live-in care can feel isolated. We've built our support around that. Regular check-ins with your manager, a team WhatsApp, and office events when you're on your break — so you always feel connected, even when you're placed.

Who we're looking for
The role suits people who want something more meaningful than a standard job — and who are comfortable with a less conventional working pattern. Experience in care is welcome but not required. What matters most is that you're the right kind of person.
"I'd cared for my mum for three years and didn't know what to do with myself when she passed. A friend suggested live-in care. I was nervous, but the training was thorough and the team made me feel like I belonged from the very first day."
[Testimonial – Name, Age] · Live-in Care AssistantTraining & development
Live-in care has its own challenges, and our training reflects that. You'll arrive at your first placement feeling prepared — not thrown in.
All training is paid. You are never asked to attend training in your own time or at your own cost. We invest in you before you set foot in a client's home.

Questions
Live-in care raises questions that visiting care doesn't. Here are the ones we hear most often.
No. Live-in care is not the same as a waking night shift. Most clients have minimal overnight needs. Where overnight support is required, this is discussed openly before the placement begins and compensated separately. You are entitled to a minimum of two hours of uninterrupted rest during the day, and a full night's sleep is expected.
Yes. You will always have your own private bedroom in the client's home. Your off-duty time in the evenings is your own. We match carers carefully to clients to ensure the household situation is comfortable for both parties.
No. Experience in any care setting is helpful but not required. We have trained people from retail, hospitality, administration, and many other backgrounds entirely. What matters is that you're the right kind of person — reliable, warm, and genuinely interested in supporting someone. We take care of the rest.
We work hard to match carers and clients carefully before a placement begins. But if things aren't right, you talk to us — and we sort it. You are never expected to remain in a situation that isn't working. Our coordinators are always available to step in, support, or arrange a change.
Live-in Care Assistants earn £854.70 per week, plus holiday pay and a pension contribution. A £45/week meal allowance is also provided during your placement. Accommodation is covered, which means your weekly earnings are effectively your spending money.
A driving licence is helpful and preferred for some placements — particularly for clients who need accompanying to appointments. However, it is not essential for all roles. We'll discuss your situation during the initial conversation and match you to placements that suit.
A named care manager checks in with you regularly throughout your placement. The office team is always reachable by phone. Before your first placement, you'll shadow an experienced live-in carer so you know exactly what to expect. You are never placed and left to figure it out alone.
We ask that you live within a reasonable distance of Stevenage, Bishop's Stortford, or Braintree. This ensures you can attend training, handovers, and team meetings when you're on your break between placements. If you're unsure whether your location qualifies, just get in touch — we're happy to discuss.
